about Gina Margillo

Gina Margillo is an award-winning filmmaker and activist. In the field of Education-Entertainment, she has worked globally with the United Nations and non-governmental organizations to write, direct and produce documentaries, TV and web series, and concert series as tools for social justice issues such sexual and reproductive rights, and environmental justice. She has been a film screener for the San Francisco International Film Festival and a reviewer for the Ranin and Westridge Social Justice Narrative Grants for over 10 years. Her early career as concert producer of artists, from Sonic Youth to Billy Joel, helped fuel her insatiable love for music. Gina is also a multidisciplinary artist who uses video, collage, performance, non-fiction writing, and conceptual art, to tell stories, deconstruct issues, and build connections. Equal parts New Yorker and Californian, she now calls both Miami and Madrid home.
