While it was entirely unplanned, the works by Miami's Loni Johnson, New York's Jessica Segall & Philadelphia's Lewis Colburn come together with a common through line.

The Venezuelan-born, Miami-based artist has 15 pieces on display through November.

Commissioned by the Arsht Center - and delayed due to COVID-19 - this contemporary dance work is set to debut this month.

"What I love about public art ... is that you can introduce it into the everyday life of people," says executive director Deborah Di Capua.

Barba and her collaboration with the other artists for "Fragmented Inner, Middle and Upper Worlds" at Laundromat was the final link to create what is now moving forward as Colectivo Cuatro.

The exhibit features the works of 13 Miami-based artists, touching on topics such as gun violence, border issues and policing disparities in the Black community.

With the museum coming up on 81 years of collecting, and Miami celebrating its 125th anniversary of incorporation, curators have combed through their vast stash to present this latest exhibit.

35th anniversary event to take place July 8-25 at two Miami-Dade County locations.

Funds are granted across a range of art forms, from visual arts, popular and classical music, dance, architecture, theater, film and literature.

The work by interdisciplinary artist Fereshteh Toosi is part of Miami Dade College's Live Arts Miami's LALA residency.
